American classic: Two sponge cake layers filled with vanilla custard and topped with chocolate glaze.
Instructions
Bake sponge cake and divide into two layers
Cook vanilla custard and let cool completely
Spread custard evenly over one sponge layer
Place second sponge layer on top
Pour chocolate glaze over the top
Refrigerate until set, then serve chilled
Ingredients
- For the sponge cake: 4 eggs 1
- sugar 150 g
- plain flour 150 g
- For the custard: 500ml milk 1
- egg yolks 4
- sugar 100 g
- cornstarch 40 g
- vanilla extract 1 TL
- For the glaze: 150g dark chocolate 1
- heavy cream 100 ml
- butter 20 g
